The other day we were finally shown how to play Gran Turismo Sport. Open beta testing had to be canceled in order to catch the release, but the overall impression was made by broadcasting.
The audience was divided into two camps: some remained confident in the unbending of Gran Turismo (“Down with Forza, Down with the other races!"), While others complained about graphics, sound and the fact that cars do not fight. I would be honest: I also embarrassed a lot, but the comments of the latter were driven into an even bigger spleen. The essence of Gran Turismo is not in the schedule, not in sound, and even more so not in damage.
Let's figure out why some things in GT Sport sacrificed for the sake of the main goal … and what is it for the goal.
The graphics are bad

The schedule was noticed first of all. Apparently, the picture will only take a small qualitative step forward. It will not amaze with realistic weather effects, like DriveClub, or a common visual side, like Forza Motorsport 6. The environment is relatively simple, viewers are cut and glued (which, however, is barely noticeable when driving fast).
Here's what is the thing. PolyPhony Digital never positioned Gran Turismo as a game with advanced graphics, but cars have always done at the level – the game about cars. So that they can be admired, click from different angles against the background of photo wallpaper, and so on.
And surrounded by details is more important. Given the meticulousness of the Japanese, with the geometry of all nineteen tracks, everything will be fine. When laser scanning has not yet come into fashion, they themselves attended tracks and almost measured the corners of the turns, and now new technologies help them in this.

The sound is no good
► Sound upset most of all, but I hope that it will at least slightly improve it to the release.
In the last parts of Gran Turismo, the most complaints were the artificial-synthetic sound of cars. A year ago, when the sound engineer Mike Kavietsel, who worked on Forza Motorsport, joined the Polyphony Digital, there was a hope that now they would take up the problem.
Alas, I have not noticed distinct changes. Judging by Stream, cars still buzz and buzz. Neither relatively deaf engine Mazda Roadster MX 5, nor the growl of the turbocharged motor Audi R18 TDI are associated with the work of something real, metallic.
Cars do not beat
► In the case of multiple accidents, according to the rules of real races, participants must lollow the peloton.
So it was in the last two parts of the series. It annoyed many and then, but all the same went with rapture. After all, Gran Turismo is a game about pure turns and contactless overtaking, as well as motorsport in general. That is why, when mass accidents occurred in the broadcasts shown on the broadcasting, the competition was suspended so that all participants take up their positions in Peloton and calmly continue the arrival.
There is a possibility that, as in past issues, car damage will open in the game with the times or that they will be finalized for the release. Nevertheless, I will remind you again: as in any simulator with licensed cars, here, because of the strict requirements of manufacturers, it is unlikely that it is possible to break the car into the trash. At most – to melt the body, disable the chassis and engine.
Why does it change nothing?
► It is known that the rally will return, but we know that this is not the main discipline of GT.
Gran Turismo developers never sought to succeed in technologically. From the very first part, since 1997, they make games about cars and do not change themselves. Driving games where you fight with yourself, with the difficulties of the highway, with a blind turn "Coroner" the track of Laguna-sek, finally.
The initial philosophy of Gran Turismo, which others later adopted, was that it was easy to get into the car and master it, but you need to learn to drive at high speeds. The car does not obey the will of the player so easily, and errors lead to loss of control.
Therefore, in GT Sport, all hundred and seventeen offline competitions will be taught to drive through tests and practice on the tracks. So that the greenest of the newcomers, who first sat behind the wheel (preferably precisely behind the wheel), prepared himself for the main thing – for serious network competitions. It is around them that the game will be built.
Network Motorsport is the most important thing
► Competitions will be accompanied by comments of professionals, and you can cheer up for the participants by launching a live broadcast from the game menu.
Let me remind you that this is not a license plate, but a branch. His task is to develop the idea GT Academy. Previously, graduates of this “school” after the qualifying tour in the game and real training under a special program earned the right to participate in a serious competition.
GT Sport multiplayer reduces this procedure. As planned, here in the weekly races the best will be selected for participation in two finals of the struggle for the National Cup and Cup of Manufacturers. After that, of course, you still have to practice, but these are subtleties. It is more interesting to find out if this program will support in our country.

It would seem that if, on the basis of multiplayer matches of most games, you can organize e -sports competitions, then why is it impossible to arrange motorsport championships on the basis of a multiplayer race?.. In fact, it is possible, and this (even except for long -standing initiatives like the e -sports Need for Speed) proved in IRACING.
